Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has offered some positive update on the possibility of Taiwo Awoniyi featuring before the end of the Premier League season.
The Nigerian forward has been out of action since March due to injury and his absence has been felt with Forest currently just one point above the relegation zone with three games left to wrap up the season.
Espirito Santo however revealed that Awoniyi has returned to training with the first team and is hopeful he can be of help in this very crucial time for the club.
“He was out all week. He started today with the group so let’s see if he has this positive feeling. I think he can help us,” EspĂrito Santo said ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sheffield United.
“He joined the team today, he had good feelings, we still have to wait for tomorrow to see how it goes. And if he feels okay like he felt today, I think he can help definitely with his experience, he’s a goalscorer.
“We are aware and we know that he’s not in his top level but definitely a helpful player for us in these final moments.”
