Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi was awarded as PFA Community Champion for contributions to society at his club Nottingham Forest during the course of the 2024-25 season, Afrosport reports.
Back in March, Awoniyi provided meals to Christians and Muslims who were engaged in Lent and Ramadan respectively to break their fasts at the end of the day.
Such kind gesture did not go unnoticed with Forest taking to X to announce his award.
“Taiwo Awoniyi has been named our PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season in recognition of his outstanding dedication to supporting local communities throughout the year,” read the post.

Awoniyi was treated to a loud applause by Forest fans when he appeared on the City Ground pitch before Sunday’s final Premier League game against Chelsea.
It was his first appearance since undergoing two rounds of surgeries to treat internal injuries from a forceful crash he has with the goal post in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
He ended the season with just one goal in 26 league games, most off the bench as Forest missed out on Champions League football by finishing seventh on the league standings.
