‘Aston Martin feels like family’ – Nigerian music star Tems recounts performance at 2025 F1 car launch

Nigerian music sensation Tems has recounted her moment performing at the 2025 Formula 1 car launch for Aston Martin, stating the Silverstone team “feels like family”, Afrosport reports.

Tems stole the headlines at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday as she performed her Grammy-winning single ‘Wait for U’ with an orchestra as Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll walked on the stage as the livery of the AMR25 was revealed.

It marked a remarkable night for the two-time Grammy award winner and Oscar nominee, who was thrilled by the arrangement of the event. She also commended Aston Martin for making her feel comfortable and welcome into the team.

“Well, it was a super unique moment. I don’t think I have ever had such a moment like this in this type of space,” Tems said in a video posted on the Aston Martin X handle.

“I was really excited. I think when I came in, I saw the crowd and just the arrangement of everything on stage and just bringing out the car, there’s nothing like it, and the design is amazing. I’m really excited in general.

“They [Aston Martin] feel like a family. I think that’s what I would say. They feel like everyone is friends and they’ve made me feel so comfortable and welcome me like I’ve been here this whole time and that’s what I really love.

“I love the team work, I love the synergy between everyone. It just feels like this is home. It feels really homey.”

Tems was recently announced as part of the ownership of MLS franchise San Diego FC, becoming the first African-born woman to own an American sports team.
