Tunisian Ligue 1 club, AS Soliman has announced that their players did not show up for a scheduled training session on Wednesday evening after breaking their Ramadan fast.
AS Soliman are currently battling to avoid relegation in the playout round as they are winless in their last four games, sitting at the bottom with just a point.
Wednesday’s night training was supposed to be coach Al-Assad Muamma’s first session with the team following the sack of coach Farid bin Belqasim earlier in the month.
A statement on AS Soliman Facebook page read: “The majority of the players of its first football team rejected coach Lassaad Maamer’s decision to carry out a night training session and boycotted the training sessions.
“Maamer had chosen to schedule his first session with the team after breaking the fast, but the players had mostly rejected the idea, preferring to take time off.
“The management of AS Soliman has therefore called for unison around the club in this difficult phase to ensure that the team can go through to the end of the play-outs and not be forced to give up prematurely.”
The Tunisian Ligue 1 is on break for the end of Ramadan celebration and will resume action on April 26 with AS Soliman facing EO Sidi Bouzid.
