Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident his team will secure their place in the UEFA Champions League next season after failing to solidify their grip of second position on the Premier League table, Afrosport reports.
The Gunners came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, with the result leaving them just two points clear of third-placed Newcastle United and five points clear of London rivals Chelsea who occupy the final qualification spot in fifth.
Arsenal’s grip of second place has been slowly evaporating after claiming just two league wins since the start of April (D4 L1) but it has Arteta unmoved ahead of the final two games against Newcastle and Southampton.
“I have full trust in all my players and we have full clarity in what we want to do.” the Spaniard said.
“It will be a tough game and we want to secure the Champions League and the second spot as well. It is a big opportunity.”
