Arsenal closing in on securing Gyokeres transfer from Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal are closing in on agreeing with Sporting Lisbon to sign Viktor Gyokeres for £63.5 million, Afrosport reports.

The 27-year Swedish striker has already agreed to terms on a five-year deal, and both clubs are working towards finalising the agreement in time for him to travel for the Gunners’ pre-season tour of Asia at the end of the week.

According to reports, only minor details remain for the deal to be finalised, meaning Gyokeres could become the fourth summer signing for manager Mikel Arteta, following the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard from Chelsea, Real Sociedad, and Brentford, respectively.

He failed to turn up for preseason training with Sporting at the weekend, with club president Frederico Varandas stating the former Coventry City player would face disciplinary action by being fined and ordered to tender an apology to the team.

Gyokeres scored 54 goals in 52 games last season and has a total of 97 goals in 102 games since his move from Coventry in 2023.

Arsenal have also agreed to £52 million with Chelsea to sign England winger of Nigerian heritage, Noni Madueke, who was recently crowned FIFA Club World Cup champion in the United States.

Personal terms have also been agreed with Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
