Arsenal boss Arteta offers Partey, Jesus injury update ahead of Sheffield United clash

Arsenal manager has stated that the team will be without Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus for a few weeks as they are both out with muscle injuries.

The Ghana midfielder came off in the final 15 minutes of the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Manchester City before the international break and was an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week.

Jesus meanwhile was instrumental in Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League win at Sevilla in midweek, scoring and assisting countryman Gabriel Martinelli. He was however taken off after 81 minutes in discomfort and Arteta has now confirmed the Brazilian will not be available for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

“The [Jesus] scan showed there is a muscle injury,” Arteta said in a press conference. “We might lose him [Jesus] for a few weeks. With Gabi, I cannot give you any timeframe because he always surprises us.”

“Thomas Partey has got a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks.”

Speaking on Sheffield United, Arteta said: “The way they have played against all the other teams has been strong, they’re clung on and then it’s been late goals conceded. They are fighting for their lives so it will be a tricky game. Everyone is on their toes, they know what is coming and I was very clear with them.”

Arsenal along with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are the only two sides yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this season and occupy top spot and third place respectively on the table.
