Ancelotti pleased with Bellingham’s Real Madrid form despite lack of goals

‘It’s too much’ – Morocco’s Mazraoui lends voice on congested fixture schedule

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says he is pleased with Jude Bellingham’s form despite failing to find the back of the net so far this season, Afrosport reports.

The England midfielder was the star of Los Blancos last season after completing a big money move from Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 competitive games as Madrid won La Liga and Champions League titles.

He has however failed to start the ongoing season in such form, with only one assist in three appearances after missing four games due to a muscle injury.

His assist came in Madrid’s 3-2 La Liga win over Alaves on Tuesday, and Ancelotti revealed he instructs Bellingham to get into the box more often rather than aim for scoring goals.

“He’s [Bellingham’s] improving. He set up Mbappe’s goal and had a very solid game,” the Italian tactician said after marking 300 games in charge of the Spanish capital giants.

“He has to get used to getting into the box more like he did last year, but it’s a lot more difficult against a low block like Alaves. I ask Bellingham to do this kind of work, not to score goals.”

Madrid’s victory over Alaves sees them move within one point of rivals Barcelona who have not dropped points this season and take on Getafe on Thursday evening.
