Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has stated that he is yet to decide on his future after being heavily linked with Manchester United, Afrosport reports.
The Portuguese tactician has emerged as the favourite for the vacant managerial job at Old Trafford after the departure of Erik ten Hag on Monday morning.
Sporting has already confirmed that United have approached to pay his release clause which is valued at €10 million.
Amorim also acknowledged the interest from the Red Devils but did not give any further details when he was quizzed after Sporting’s 3-1 win over Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.
“Nothing is decided yet. I don’t know if it’s the farewell game or not. There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a contract term and when I have something more solid, I will come here and tell my position, because it will be my choice,” he said.
“While I don’t have everything decided, for one side or the other, I can’t tell much more,”
Sporting currently leads the Liga Portugal standings and next host Estrela on Friday night before facing Manchester City in the Champions League next Tuesday.
United meanwhile, are under the interim watch of Ruud van Nistelrooy and will face Leicester City in the EFL Cup round of 16 on Wednesday night before facing Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend followed by a Europa League home tie with Greek giants PAOK FC next Thursday.
