Manchester United interim manager Ruud can Nistelrooy has praised the character of Amad Diallo after he scored twice in their 2-0 win over POAK FC in the Europa League on Thursday night, Afrosport reports.
The Ivory Coast international was making his first start in seven games and scored two second half goals to hand the Red Devils their first European win in six games spanning more than a year.
It raised questions on why Amad had not been starting in recent times after making big impact at the commencement of the season but Van Nistelrooy insisted his quality was never in doubt.
“Yes, he’s a great character and he’s a hard worker. He shows that in every training session,” the Dutch tactician told the club website.
“So that attitude and also extra work every day after training, he comes to me and he wants to do extra finishing, extra crossing, extra one-v-ones, extra… ‘How can I improve my shot, how can I improve my heading?’ Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
“And, yeah, he’s constantly focused on learning, getting better, living very professional, in a professional way, so he’s very motivated to get the maximum out of his career. And after so many games he didn’t start, he had a great performance, so I was very pleased for him.”
