Amad Diallo on target to rescue point for Man United at Liverpool

Amad Diallo on target to rescue point for Man United at Liverpool

Amad Diallo was on the score sheet along with Mohamed Salah as Manchester United held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Sunday evening, Afrosport reports.

The game started with the away side on top as United were seeing a better share of the possession than Liverpool as Diogo Dalot found Amad Diallo who could not find the target with his header.

United starting well did not stop the Reds from causing their own problems as Luis Diaz could not keep his shot down before Alexis Mac Allister’s effort was saved by Andre Onana.

However, United had a chance that would have given them the first half lead before the half time break as Rasmus Hojlund forced Allison Becker to a save.

Ruben Amorim’s man continued their surprising electrifying performance in the second half and their persistence was rewarded when Lisandro Martinez intercepted a pass by Trent Alexander-Arnold before combining with Bruno Fernandes who returned the pass for the Argentine to finish past Allison, the goal cancelling a six-year goal drought for United at Anfield.

However, the Red Devils did not celebrate for long as Mac Allister found Cody Gakpo who took out Matthijs De Ligt before firing into the far corner of the net.

Seven minutes past the hour mark and it looked like a comeback was in favor of the hosts after De Ligt was penalised for a handball which resulted in a penalty which Salah wasted to time to convert.

After falling behind, Amorim needed more attacking firepower as he introduced Alejandro Garnacho who set up Diallo in the 80th minute to drive the ball past Allison for the equalising goal.

The intensity level grew as both side searched for the winning goal, calling the goalkeepers out to action but nothing came out of them.

It was a disappointing result for the Reds who missed the chance to go eight points clear at the top with a game in hand while it was a big one for United who ended a four-match loosing streak.

On the bright, Liverpool have suffered only one defeat to United in their last 14 meetings.
