Al-Ahli forward Toney recalled back into England squad ahead of June fixtures

Al-Ahli forward Ivan Toney has been recalled to the England squad for the international fixtures against Andorra and Senegal next month, Afrosport reports.

It is the first time the 29-year-old has been part of the Three Lions since the Euro 2024 final loss to Spain in Germany.

Toney was previously on the books of Premier League club Brentford before moving to the lucrative Saudi Pro League to join Al-Ahli, where he has scored 28 goals in 42 outings and has won the AFC Champions League.

When asked about his selection, England boss Thomas Tuchel said: “He deserves to be with us and I am convinced because he scored over 20 goals for his team this season. He won a major title with the Asian Champions League, he had a big contribution with goals and assists.

“I said last time [in March] that I would try to put a visit in my schedule [to Saudi Arabia] which I didn’t make, so I thought bring him [Toney] over and let him travel with us.”

Tuchel also selected eight players who will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, a few days after these fixtures. These players are Real Madrid Midfielder Jude Bellingham, Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane and the Chelsea quintet of Trevoh Chalobah, who received his first call-up, Levi Colwill, Reece James, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.

England face Andorra in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on June 7, before hosting Senegal in a friendly at the City Ground three days later.
