Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom has been nominated for the Championship PFA Vertu Motor Fans’ Player of the Year award for the historic season he had with Middlesbrough.
The 27-year-old, who has already won the EFL Player of the Season award and Boro’s Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year awards, will be up against five other players in the six-man final shortlist.
Burnley’s Nathan Tella, who is also of Nigerian descent; Vicktor Gyokeres of Coventry City; Luton Town’s Carlton Morris; Senegal; Sheffield United’s Iliman N’Diaye; Ivory Coast; and Sunderland youngster Amada Diallo are the other names vying for the accolade.

The winner of the award will be determined by votes from fans, members of the players’ trade union, and the Professional Football Association.
Akpom, who was also named in the championship team of the season, picked up three PFA Fans’ Player of the Month awards during the course of a season, where he has scored 29 goals for the Riverside outfit in all competitions, helping them end the season in fourth and secure a spot in the playoffs.
