Akpom, Moffi, Moses Simon all on target as Ligue 1 season concludes

The Nigerian trio of Chuba Akpom, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon were all on target for Lille, OGC Nice and Nantes respectively as the 2024-25 French Ligue 1 season came to an end on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

Akpom scored from the penalty spot as Lille defeated AS Monaco 2-1 to finish the campaign in fifth place, securing a place in the Europa League next season.

Akpom, who is on loan from Ajax, ended his spell in the French top flight with three goals and one assist in 14 games.

Meanwhile, Moffi came off the bench to score the fifth goal in the 82nd minute of Nice’s 6-0 bashing of Brest.

It was the 25-year-old’s first goal since returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered during pre-season last summer and ruled him out for the bulk of the 2024-25 season.

Moffi ends the season with just five appearances, all off the bench and totaling just 53 minutes action.

Nice finished the season in fourth place to book a spot in the qualification phase of the UEFA Champions League.

At the Stade de la Beaujoire, Moses Simon scored the first goal from the penalty spot in the 18th minute as Nantes edged past relegated Montpellier 3-0.

The club icon also assisted Matthis Abline for the third goal to end the season with eight goals and 10 assists in 32 games, the best tally of his career, beating his previous record of six goals and eight assists during the 2021-22 campaign.

Nantes ended the season in 13th place, six points clear of automatic relegation and three points away from the promotion/relegation playoff spot.
