The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is considering hosting their upcoming match against Kenya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, Afrosport reports.
Coach Michael Nees is said to prefer Polokwane’s stadium due to its superior playing surface.
Meanwhile, the Warriors played their last home game against Namibia at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, and are reportedly still exploring the ground as a backup option if the Peter Mokaba stadium cannot be secured.
The Warriors have been restricted to playing their home games in neighbouring countries due to the lack of a standard stadium certified by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) within their borders.
Nees’ side are unbeaten in the qualifiers so far and are currently second in the Group J standings with eight points, two behind leaders Cameroon, having won two games and draw two.
Zimbabwe will host Kenya’ Harambee Stars on November 15 before heading away to Cameroon four days later to take on the Indomitable Lions and conclude their AFCON 2025 qualifiers journey.
