AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Super Eagles on path to failure without kicking a ball

The Super Eagles camp in Abidjan welcomed 10 early arrivals ahead of their final round of matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Afrosport reports.

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze, Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Auxerre defender Gabriel Osho, who got his second call-up but was hoping to make his national team debut, led the early entourage of players.

Other players who arrived early to Super Eagles camp are Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins, combative midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, Nantes winger Moses Simon, goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Bruno Onyemeachi.

More players are expected on Tuesday as the full 23-man squad invited by interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen is tipped to be in camp.

Nigeria tops Group D with 10 points and needs only one point from two games to secure a spot in next year’s AFCON finals in Morocco.

The Super Eagles will lock horns against the Cheetahs of Benin, led by former coach Gernot Rohr, on Thursday, November 14, at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, while they will return to the shores of the country to take on the Amavubi of Rwanda four days later at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
