AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Maduka Okoye in Uyo as Super Eagles awaits Osimhen’s arrival

Okoye recalled to Super Eagles squad

Italy-based goalkeeper Maduka Okoye on Wednesday arrived the Super Eagles camp in Uyo ahead of their 2025 African Cup of Nations Group D qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The 25-year-old, who has been in great for Udinese, has kept two clean sheets in four games for the Serie A club this season, conceding only two goals.

The shot-stopper joins Sevilla forward Kelechi Iheanacho as the latest players to arrive the training camp after the former Leicester City star touched base earlier in the day.

Okoye and Iheanacho’s arrival take the total number of players in the Nigerian base to 22, with the arrival of newly-signed Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen imminent.

The Eagles, drawn in Group D of the qualifiers, are due to face the Cheetahs of Benin on Saturday, September 7, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, before jetting out to Kigali to take on Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Amahoro National Stadium three days later.
