Super Eagles interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has selected Enugu Rangers and Remo Stars coaches, Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, as his assistants for the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic and Rwanda’s Amavubi.
Ilechukwu led Rangers to their eighth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last season and has also guided the Flying Antelopes to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Meanwhile, Ogunmodede led the Sky Blue Stars to a second-place finish in the Nigerian topflight last term.
Eguavoen, who was appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on an interim basis after German Coach Bruno Labbadia rescinded his decision to take up the job due to tax rules in Germany, will also work with Slovenian fitness trainer Tomaz Zorec and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere.
Nigeria will host the Cheetahs of Benin at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 7, in their opening Group D game in the qualifying rounds.
The three-time African champions will depart for Kigali on Sunday for Tuesday’s clash with the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali.
