Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoen has expressed confidence as he prepares to lead the team against Libya in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month, Afrosport reports.
The 59-year-old led the three-time African champions to a 3-0 victory against Benin Republic in Uyo, and also got a draw away at Rwanda in Kigali on match-day one and two in the qualification series.
Ahead of the next set of fixtures, the former Super Eagles defender in an interview with Brilla FM, said he is quite aware of the task ahead and assured that they will approach the game with all level of seriousness.
He said: “We are very ready. My bosses have asked me to continue, and I thank them and God for the opportunity. Up next is Libya, back-to-back.
“We will approach the games the same way we did the last ones—one game at a time. For us, every match is like a cup final.”
The Super Eagles will face Libya’s Mediterranean Knights on October 11 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo before traveling to Benina for the return leg four days later.
Eguavoen is expected to release his squad list for the double header this week with the regular suspects still favoured to be part of the roster.
