Super Eagles interim manager Augustine Eguavoen is backing Victor Boniface to find the back of the net in Friday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in Uyo, Afrosport reports.
Boniface is yet to score in a competitive game for Nigeria, with his only goal coming goal in 2-2 friendly draw with Saudi Arabia last year while providing an assist in a 6-0 thumping of Sao Tome and Principe in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The Bayer Leverkusen star is expected to lead the line against the Mediterranean Knights as talisman Victor Osimhen is out due to injury, and Eguavoen is confident he will hit the target.
βVictor Boniface has always been a part of this team and will continue to be a part of this team,β Eguavoen said at a press conference in Uyo.
βYes, he is not finding the back of the net and I can assure you that if he starts [against Libya], he will score.β
