Zambia national team head coach, Avram Grant, has called on 26 players to face Chad Republic in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.
Grant has called upon nine home-based players including the Zesco United trio of Toaster Nsabata, Tandi Mwape, Benedict Chepeshi, and Red Arrows defender Peter Kalota.
The 69-year-old also called upon Spain-based Francisco Mwepu and Midtylland’s Edward Chilufya in his forward line-up. He also invited Lecce midfielder Lameck Banda and Swiss-based midfielder Miguel Chaiwa.
However, the former Ghana coach has omitted striker Fashion Sakala from the squad following their row earlier this year. Other notable missing players include midfielders Emmanuel Banda, Kelvin Kapumbu, Kingston Mutandwa, Dominic Chanda and Ricky Banda.
The Chipolopolo will tackle Chad in the first leg of their double-header on October 11 at Zambia’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, before heading to the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon, four days later for the return fixture.
Grant’s men are currently second in Group G with three points after losing to group leaders Ivory Coast in their opening game and beating Sierra Leone 3-2 in matchday two.
