Kenneth Omeruo is confident the Super Eagles has what it takes to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Afrosport reports.
The three-time champions were one of two teams, along with Algeria, to finish with a 100% record in the group stage after defeating Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda to finish top of Group C.
Their next challenge is Mozambique in the round of 16 in Fes on Monday, and Omeruo, who was part of the team that won the title in 2013 in South Africa, wants the squad to be focused.
“Of course. It’s Nigeria. You know, I believe so much in the team, so yes, for sure they can do it,“ he said when asked by Afrosport about their chances for the title.
The former Chelsea defender added: “I just think believe, you know, it’s very important to believe in.
“When you’re going into a game, you believe that this game we’re going to win, you know, and then you have to put the effort and it’s always important not to think about the final and approach each game as it comes.
“So you win the next game and focus on the game after, you know, and before you know it, you’re already close to the final. So for me, I think with, you know, hopefully no injuries and dedication and hard work.”
