French Ligue 1 side Lille have announced that Hamza Igamane suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Morocco’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final defeat against Senegal, Afrosport reports.
The 23-year-old was on the bench for the final and came on in extra time as the sixth substitute. He lasted seven minutes before going off injured. The North African giants finished the game with 10 men and ultimately lost 1-0.
Lille in a statement said Igamane will be out of action and could miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America where Morocco play Brazil, Scotland and Haiti in Group C.
“Following tests, it has been revealed that Hamza Igamane unfortunately suffered an ACL rupture in the AFCON Final,” read the statement on X.
“He will miss several months. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Hamza.”

Igamane joined Lille from Scottish giants Rangers in last August, has scored nine goals and provided two assists in 18 competitive games for the French side in all competitions.
