Morocco manager Walid Regragui believes Brahim Diaz can be the best player in the world after his stellar performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, Afrosport reports.
The 26-year-old has been in top gear at the tournament, scoring in every game so far to lead the scorers’ chart with five goals in as many games, taking his tally to 13 goals in 20 international caps.
Meanwhile, the Atlas Lions are in the semi-finals and on course for their first AFCON title in 50 years. Regragui stated that Diaz’s kind of performance is what is needed for the team to go over the line and win the long-awaited title.
“What I like is that he didn’t just score, he changed his mentality,” he said.
“What he did (against Cameroon in the quarter-final on Friday) was run, fight, and keep possession. He sent a message to his teammates. It’s very important for the team’s morale when you see your best player running like that.
“He can be the best player in the world if he wants to be.”
