Current Africa Cup of Nations holders Ivory Coast moved into the quarter-finals of the 2025 edition after a commanding 3-0 win over neighbours Burkina Faso in Marrakech on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The Elephants finished top of Group F by virtue of goal difference ahead of Cameroon while the Stallions finished second in Group E behind Algeria.
The Burkinabe started the brighter side with Saidou Simpore and Cyriaque Irie testing goalkeeper Yahia Fofana. The Ivorians were however able to get ahead after 20 minutes thanks to red-hot Manchester United winger Amad Diallo who chipped the ball brilliantly past Herve Koffi.
Amad then turned provider for Man United-linked RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande to take them 2-0 up after 32 minutes.
Emerse Fae’s men were in firm control of the game but still had time for one more goal in the 87th courtesy of Bazoumana Traore.
