AFCON 2025: Eric Chelle admits being under pressure ahead of Mozambique tie

2026 WCQ: Why Eric Chelle deserves credit for job so far as Super Eagles boss

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has admitted he is feeling the pressure to succeed at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as the Super Eagles prepare for a crucial round of 16 clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Mozambique in Morocco, Afrosport reports.

At the pre-match Press conference, Chelle stressed that the group stage is now behind them and that the real test of the tournament begins at this stage.

“This is the end of the group stage. Another tournament starts now, and we play against Mozambique,” the Malian said.

“The mindset of the team is good. We will have our final training session this evening to prepare for the game.

“Since I took this job, I have been under pressure. Game after game, we want to be ambitious, but we must think about the next game. If we qualify for the quarter-finals, we will think about it then. For now, our focus is Mozambique, and we want to win.”

When asked about the expectations surrounding the team, Chelle acknowledged the heavy responsibility that comes with managing the Super Eagles but emphasised that his attention is fully focused on the task at hand.
