AFCON 2025: Chelle, Ndidi signal readiness for big Tunisia test

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and captain Wilfred Ndidi expressed confidence ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group C clash with Tunisia on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The three-time AFCON champions began their campaign with a 2-1 win over Tanzania and could book their place in the round of 16 if they overcome the Carthage Eagles in Fes.

Speaking ahead of the game, Chelle highlighted the team’s intensive training, acknowledging Tunisia’s quality.

“We focused on recovery and increased intensity in training. Tunisia is a strong team, but we’re prepared,” he stated.

Chelle also addressed previous mistakes in their last game, emphasising their commitment to improvement, noting:  “My players are very ready for this game.”

Meanwhile, skipper Wilfred Ndidi underlined the team’s focus on the tournament, dismissing negative social media comments: “We’re here to play football and achieve great results.”

Nigeria and Tunisia last met in the round of 16 of the AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon, with the latter winning 1-0.
