AFCON 2025: CAF disqualifies unlicensed Zambia coach Sichone

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disqualified Moses Sichone from his position as coach of the Zambia national team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations over his coaching badges, Afrosport reports.

Sichone is ineligible to lead the Chipolopolo in Morocco due to new CAF coaching requirements. Although he holds a UEFA A coaching license, he lacks the necessary CAF A or Pro license mandated for coaching in CAF competitions.

Sichone was appointed as head coach in November 2025, succeeding former Chelsea manager Avram Grant.

The Zambia Football Federation is now urgently seeking a qualified replacement before the tournament begins in three days.

Zambia have been placed in Group A with host nation Morocco, Comoros, and Mali. Their first match will be against Mali in Casablanca.
