Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is expecting an interesting encounter against Guinea-Bissau in their final group match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles will lock horns against Guinea-Bissau for the second time on the AFCON stage after their last outing ended in a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Sadiq Umar and William Troost-Ekong in the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
Osimhen missed the tournament due to injury but he faced the Djurtus twice during the qualifying round for 2023 AFCON and he disclosed they are not strange opponents to him.
During a press conference on Sunday, the Napoli star assured that the Super Eagles will battle Guinea-Bissau with the ambition of grabbing maximum points.
“I think it is going to be an interesting game because they are a team we are familiar with,” Osimhen told the media.
“Some people said it was going to be an easy game. But there is no easy game, especially in this tournament.
“A lot of big teams are struggling, that shows how improved the African teams are now. I think we will approach the game with seriousness and try to win tomorrow.”
The Super Eagles are second in Group A with four points and to avoid defeat for a chance to progress in Ivory Coast while Guinea-Bissau are rooted to the bottom of the table with no point after two matches.
