AFCON 2023: Nigeria camp bubbles for Guinea-Bissau qualifier

The Super Eagles camp opened on Monday with the arrival of nine players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau.

West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Everton midfield star Alex Iwobi, Southampton’s Joe Aribo, Leicester City duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, Hoffenheim centre-back Kevin Akpoguma, Omonia Nicosia’s Francis Uzoho and U-20 goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso are the nine players in the Abuja camp, with 14 others still expected.

The team will have their first training session on Monday evening by 5pm and it is open to the media for coverage.

Nigeria are scheduled to play Djurtus at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday before travelling to Bissau for the return fixture on March 27.

Jose Peseiro’s men lead Group A with six points after victories against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in their first two games.
