AFCON 2023: Man Utd star Hannibal dropped by Tunisia

AFCON 2023: Cameroon coach Song defends exclusion of Bayern Munich’s Choupo-Moting

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is a surprise name that did not make Tunisia’s final 27-man list for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Carthage Eagles coach Jalel Kadri confirmed that Hannibal requested to be left out of the team to prioritise his future at Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has played just 129 minutes of Premier League football in four games this campaign and he scored his top-flight goal in the 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2023.

“Hannibal Mejbri told me that he doesn’t feel ready for the AFCON because he’s going through a difficult situation at Manchester United,” Kadri told the media.

Hannibal is reportedly attracting interests from Sevilla, Lyon and Freiburg as he looks to leave Old Trafford for the next six months in search for more playing time.
