AFCON 2023: Mahrez & four home-based players make Algeria’s 26-man squad

2016 African Footballer of the Year, Riyad Mahrez, OGC Nice left-back Youcef Atal and four players from the Algerian Ligue 1 have been included in Algeria’s final squad for the. 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The four home-based players who made Djamel Belmadi’s final list are goalkeepers Rais M’bohli, Ousamma Benbot, USM Alger’s Zineddine Belaid and MC Alger forward Youcef Belaili.

The Desert Foxes will be camped in the Togolese capital city of Lome from January 1-10 and will play the Togolese national team on January 5 then Burundi on January 9.

They will depart for Ivorian city of Bouake on January 10 for AFCON 2023, five days before they face Angola in their opening Group D.

Algeria who are gunning for a third AFCON trophy will also Burkina Faso and Mauritania in their group outings.
