La Liga club Cadiz have sent support message to injured Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali after he was stretchered off in their 2-0 win over Cameroon at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Chippa United was forced off in Saturday’s round of 16 game in Abidjan after colliding with George-Kevin N’Koudou and he was subsequently replaced by Francis Uzoho.
The injury appeared to be a serious knee injury with the 27-year-old’s knee wrapped with bandage at the end of the game.
Cadiz, who are 18th in La Liga table, described Nwabali as GOAT – Greatest Of All Time, as Nigeria aim for a fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast.
The tweet on the club’s X handle read: “All the luck in the world for GOAT Nwabali to be recovered for Nigeria’s next round in AFCON.”
Nwabali has established himself as a regular fixture in Nigeria’s squad since he made his debut against Equatorial Guinea at the ongoing tournament in Ivory Coast.
He has conceded just a goal in four matches for the Super Eagles so far and it remains to be seen if he will be fit in time for Nigeria’s quarter-final clash against Angola on Friday.
