Senegal-born music icon Akon has been confirmed as the host of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw slated for Thursday, October 12, in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, CAF revealed on Wednesday.
The final draw for the competition bid for January 2024 will take place at the historic Parc des Expositions building and will be aired live in over 50 countries on CAF TV (YouTube) and across its global TV partners.

Akon, who is a huge football fan, will host the much-anticipated ceremony alongside former Ivorian international and four-time CAF African Player of the Year Yaya Toure.
The final draws, which will take place at 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. Nigerian time), will see the 24 participating nations know their opponents and respective groups for Africa’s biggest football competition.
The 34th edition of the tournament, will take place in the West African nation of Cote d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
