Mozambique manager Conde Chiquinho was unsatisfied with his side’s 2-2 draw with Egypt in Sunday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group B tie.
The Mambas have never won a game at AFCON and looked like making history with a 2-1 lead heading into added time. The Pharaohs however denied them all three points when Mohamed Salah stepped up to equalise from the penalty spot with few minutes left.
Chiquinho now wants him team to work harder in getting their historic win.
“We were so close. The result was almost in our hands. However, it is up to us to work harder so that this does not happen again,” Chiquinho stated after the match.
“The opening goal did not disturb our plan. It actually it motivated us to play even harder.
“I feel like I have completed my task. We are sad and that is a good thing because we are not satisfied with what we got today”

Commenting on the game, Egypt manager Rui Vitoria said: “Mozambique has a solid team, I said it before meeting them and that’s what happened today. They gave us a lot of tactical problems with this low pack. This team has excellent elements in midfield. They found gaps in us and they took advantage of it.”
Mozambique will battle Cape Verde next while Egypt will face Ghana.
