Man accused of Liverpool parade crash pleads not guilty

Paul Doyle, a 53-year-old man accused of driving into a crowd of Liverpool supporters during their team’s Premier League victory parade on May 26 has pleaded not guilty to 31 charges levelled against him, Afrosport reports.

More than 134 people sustained varying degrees of injuries when Doyle’s minivan hit Reds supporters who were leaving the Liverpool waterfront at the conclusion of the parade.

Doyle was initially charged with seven offences but handed a further 24 charges last month and denied all of them during a video call from his prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday.

He denied charges of dangerous driving, affray, 18 charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent as well as nine counts of causing GBH with intent and two counts of wounding with intent.

Doyle was remanded in custody and is scheduled to go on trial on November 24.
