Zambia were crowned champions of the COSAFA Under-17 Championship after securing a 1-0 victory over South Africa in the final at the Bingu National Stadium Lilongwe.
Junior Chipolopolo trashed tournament hosts Malawi 5-1 while Amajimbos saw off Botswana 4-2.
Kelvin Phiri’s 60th minute goal was the difference in the final.
Both Zambia and South Africa by virtue of reaching the final have booked their spots at the Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations holding in Algeria from April 8 to 30, 2023.
Zambia’s title was their third having won it previously in 2017 and 2019. South Africa’s Siyabonga Mabena finished as top scorer in Malawi with nine goals.
