The San Antonio Spurs will square off against the Miami Heat in tonight’s NBA game at the FTX Arena in Miami.
The San Antonio Spurs are currently 14th in the Western Conference standings, tied on wins and losses with the bottom-placed Houston Rockets, while the Miami Heat are two spots out of the playoffs in 10th place with 12 wins in 26 games.
The clash will feature two of the most experienced coaches in the league, as two-time NBA champion Erik Spoelstra and five-time NBA champion and longest-serving NBA manager Gregg Popovich will square off for the first time this season.
The Miami Heat will hope to make it two wins out of three straight home games when they take on Popovich’s team in the first of a two-game matchup.
The Spurs, on the other hand, will look to build on their most recent victory, which ended an 11-game losing streak and gave them their seventh win of the season.
Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler were instrumental in the Heat’s last home victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, with the latter playing in his second game back from injury.
The Spurs won their last game against the Houston Rockets at the AT&T Center thanks to the inspiring form of Keldon Johnson and a career night for Tre Jones.
The young Spurs team will have an uphill task to surpass when they face the Heat due to Adebayo and Tyler Herro’s hot scoring form.
The pair have combined for 105 points for the Heat over the last two games, and coach Spoelstra will definitely hope his two guys continue to be hungry, as they continue their push for a playoff spot.
The Heat are expected to have guard Kyle Lowry back for tonight’s game after he missed the last game against the Los Angeles Clippers for rest purposes.
Nigerian international Gabriel Nnamdi Vincent has been ruled out of the tie with a knee injury, while Spurs’ Jakob Poeltl will also not feature tonight due to a knee injury.
