Lakers’ LeBron James gives update on groin injury

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has played down the severity of the groin injury in his team’s 114-101 loss to LA Clippers.

After scoring 30 points in Wednesday’s game, James was forced off midway through the fourth quarter.

The 37-year-old power forward complained of soreness in the groin area of his leg and he is hopeful to get back to action when the Lakers battle Sacramento Kings with an aim to end their four-game winless run on Friday night.

“Just when I landed, I felt a little spasm or strain in my groin. So immediately I had to come out after that on the next play down when I went to the free throw line,” James said after the game.

“I’ll go around [the clock] treatment for 24 hours, and if it’s OK on Friday, I’ll be in the lineup.”

LA Lakers have endured a poor start to the 2022-23 NBA season with a record of nine losses and two wins so far.

The last time James suffered a groin injury was in the 2018-19 season and he missed 17 games in a row.
