Villa boss Emery outlines condition for potential permanent Sancho transfer

Nwabali open to NPFL return after Chippa United exit

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has outlined a condition that can prompt the club to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent transfer in the summer, Afrosport reports.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan from Manchester United and will be a free agent in the summer if the Red Devils do not activate the option to extend his contract by a further year.

Sancho initially struggled to get playing minutes for Villa when he joined last summer, and was only limited to appearances in cup games.

He has however been regular in league games lately, starting every league match since the start of the year, and provided an assist for Morgan Rogers in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend.

Emery stated the former Borussia Dortmund man must continue playing his best football if he is to be considered for a return to Midlands.

When quizzed on Sancho’s future, the Spaniard said: “Not yet [no updates on his future]. But he’s a fantastic player. Hopefully, he can help us increase his qualities in our structure, like he is doing.

“Of course, he will need another contract. Will it be here? It could be because if he is playing his best football, we will want him. But if he’s playing his best football, then maybe another team will want him.

“This is football. Each match, the next match, this month, everything is very important for every player.”

Aston Villa remain third in the Premier League standings, nine points behind leaders Arsenal, and will take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday.
