Deadline Day: Ilenikhena departs AS Monaco for Saudi giants Al-Ittihad

Deadline Day: Liverpool complete Jeremy Jacquet signing from Rennes

George Ilenikhena has joined Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad in a reported deal worth €33 million, Afrosport reports.

The 19-year-old Nigerian-born French foward has been on the books of Monaco since 2024 when he joined from Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

He however failed to be regular starter owing to competition for places from Folarin Balogun and Mika Biereth.

Ilenikhena scored 10 goals in 51 competitive appearances for the Principality outfit, with his most notably moment seeing him score the winner in a 2-1 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in September 2024, surpassing Kylian Mbappe to become the youngest goalscorer for Monaco in the competition.

His transfer comes as French veteran forward Karim Benzema left Al-Ittihad for Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Hilal.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast winger and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion Simon Adingra has joined Monaco on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old joined the Black Cats from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer but failed to nail a place in the starting XI, with nine starts in 14 league appearances.

The loan deal includes the option to purchase him for £16 million at end of the season.
