The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed fines totaling $1.13 million to players and officials of the Senegal and Morocco national teams after the fallout of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, Afrosport reports.

Senegal players walked off the pitch in protest to a last-minute penalty given to Morocco before eventually coming back, with the penalty saved and the Teranga Lions ultimately winning in extra time.

Senegal coach, Pape Thiaw has been five-game ban from CAF matches and fined $100,000 for his behavior in ordering his players to walk off the pitch while Senegalese players, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, were also banned for two matches each for inappropriate behaviour to the referee.

The Senegalese Football Federation (FAF) were fined $300,000 for the improper behaviour of the country’s fans and an additional $300,000 for the improper conduct of players and staff and $15,000 after five of their players were booked during the game.


Meanwhile, Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi has been banned for two matches, with one ban lasting a year while midfielder Ismael Saibari was banned for three matches and also fined $100,000.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) was fined $200,000 for the improper behaviour by stadium ball boys during the final and were also fined $100,000 for their players and staff disrupting the VAR review and stopping the referee. An extra $15,000 fine was given for Moroccan fans using lasers during the game.
