Arsenal loanee Nwaneri scores on Marseille debut

Osimhen scores 50th Galatasaray goal after AFCON 2025 return

Ethan Nwaneri scored on his debut for Olympique Marseille as they recorded a 3-1 win over RC Lens in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The 18-year-old English midfielder of Nigerian heritage completed a loan move from Arsenal on Friday for the rest of the season in search of game time and was included in the starting XI in place of former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

He scored the goal in the 13th minute off an assist from former Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after Algeria forward Amine Gouiri put them ahead 10 minutes earlier.

Nwaneri was taken off for Greenwood in the 58th minute while Gouiri completed his brace in the 75th minute after being assisted by Timothy Weah, son of 1995 Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah.

Marseille maintain second place on the Ligue 1 table and are now five points behind second-placed Lens.
