Leeds United have had a bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Afrosport reports.
According to BBC Sport, Leeds’ offer fell short of Wolves’ asking price which is believed to be around £40 million.
The Norwegian striker has struggled for form this season with just six goals in all competitions, and one in the Premier League.
Wolves are ready to sell him as they face the possibility of relegation at the end of the season as they remain bottom of table, nine points away from safety.
The 25-year-old joined from Celta Vigo on loan initially and scored 14 league goals in 35 games last season before he was permanently signed for £23 million last summer.
Newcastle made two bids worth £50 million and £55 million for Strand Larsen last August after struggling to find a replacement for the out-of-favour Alexander Isak. Both bids were however rejected by Wolves, with the Magpies ultimately signing Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.
Wolves are also willing to sell Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Agbadou, with Turkish giants Besiktas offering a reported £13 million, £3.6 million less than the amount Wolves paid to sign him from Ligue 1 side Reims last January.
Portuguese midfielder Joao Gomes is another Wolves player that has the interest of reigning Serie A champions Napoli and La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
