Casemiro to leave Manchester United at the end of the season

Casemiro has announced that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, when his contract expires, Afrosport reports.

The 33-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 on a four-year contract with the option of a further year.

There were talks to exercise that one-year extension albeit on reduced wages. He has however decided to close the chapter on his time at Old Trafford after four years.

“Knowing when a chapter comes to an end. Knowing when to say goodbye, especially when you feel you’ll always be remembered and respected,” Casemiro wrote in a post on X.

“Four more months to give everything for this badge and for our goal. My respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans will last forever. Forever a Red Devil.”

Casemiro has played 146 games for Manchester United, scoring 21 goals, providing 13 assists, and winning the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
