Tottenham Hotspur midfielder could be ruled for up a lengthy period after picking up an ankle injury in the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The Sweden international was substituted in the second half after attempting to remain on the pitch.
Tottenham’s medical team are still assessing the injury but there are concerns the 19-year-old could be out for up to three months as a worse case scenario.
Bergvall has been a key figure for Spurs this season having made 26 appearances. His absence will be a blow for head coach Thomas Frank who will have to do without Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski on the long term while Richarlison is out for six weeks and Joao Palhinha has a knock.
The North London outfit are currently 14th in the Premier League with Frank under pressure to deliver results.
