The Super Eagles moved 12 places up to 26th in the latest FIFA world rankings after their participation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Afrosport reports.
Nigeria claimed a record-extending ninth bronze medal after defeating record-AFCON champions Egypt in the third/fourth place playoff.
It represented the biggest jump for the West African giants since climbing to 28th after finishing runners-up at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast in February 2024.
Meanwhile, newly- crowned AFCON 2025 champions Senegal moved up to 12th in the world rankings and second on the continent while runners-up Morocco are the highest ranked team in eighth and top on the continent.
Nigeria is third in Africa followed by Algeria, Egypt and Ivory Coast, who occupy 28th, 31st and 37th spot globally respectively.

The African top 10 is completed by Cameroon , Tunisia, DR Congo and Mali, who rank 45th, 47th, 48th and 54th respectively globally.
Spain leads the global rankings ahead of Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium and Germany.
