AFCON 2025: Morocco appeal to CAF, FIFA after Senegal walk-out

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) plans legal action with CAF and FIFA over Senegal’s walk-off during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, Afrosport reports.

FRMF’s statement on its official X handle on Monday highlighted the referee’s penalty decision, deemed correct by experts.

It also thanked Moroccan fans for their unwavering support and expressed appreciation to contributors who ensured a successful tournament.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announces that it will pursue legal action with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA regarding the Senegalese national team’s withdrawal from the final match against Morocco and the subsequent events following the referee’s decision to award a penalty kick, a decision deemed correct by all experts,” the statement read.

The final at Stade Mohammed V in Rabat ended in chaos during the last moments. FIFA president Gianni Infantino condemned the incident, while CAF is reviewing footage and may refer it for disciplinary action. Senegal could face fines or suspension.
