The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has praised the Super Eagles for their impressive run to the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, describing the team’s campaign as one driven by commitment, discipline, passion, resilience and a strong sense of national pride, Afrosport reports.
Nigeria’s semi-final clash on Wednesday night ended in frustration after a tightly contested encounter finished goalless over 120 minutes. The match was eventually decided by penalties, with the hosts prevailing 4-2 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Reacting to the outcome, Gusau, urged the players to move on quickly from the defeat and focus on securing third place when they face Egypt in the bronze-medal match in Casablanca on Saturday.
Gusau noted that the team had performed admirably despite the disappointment. He emphasised that penalty shootouts are unpredictable and could swing either way, recalling that the Super Eagles themselves benefited from such a situation in a previous AFCON semi-final against South Africa.
He added that the federation remains proud of the team’s overall performance, pointing out that Nigeria has scored more goals than any other side at the tournament.
According to him, efforts are already underway to lift the players’ spirits and motivate them to finish strongly.
