Everton manager David Moyes has identified Super Eagles defender Ola Aina as a key target for the ongoing January transfer window, Afrosport reports.
Moyes has done an admirable job since returning to Merseyside at the start of last year. He successfully guided the club to avoid relegation last season.
This season, despite some inconsistent performances, Everton sit 12th in the Premier League table with 29 points from 21 matches, just six points off the top four.
With the season now beyond its midway mark, the Toffees are looking to strengthen their squad during the winter transfer window to secure a comfortable position by the end of the campaign.
Aina has been one of the standout players in the league since last season. He played a crucial role in Nottingham Forest’s impressive run to claim 7th place in the Premier League.
The Nigerian has established himself as a top defender in one-on-one situations and is regarded as one of the quickest players in England’s top tier.
His performances previously attracted interest from Manchester City, though a transfer did not materialise, leading him to extend his contract with Nottingham Forest.
That contract binds him to the City Ground until 2028, but Everton are hopeful of luring him away as Moyes remains a keen admirer. Nottingham Forest may demand a fee in the range of €25–30 million, though Everton are yet to make a formal offer.
